About Our Laboratory
Our laboratory at Texas A&M University specializes in advancing research and solutions for manure management, water, air quality, and nutrient analysis. Equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, we provide comprehensive capabilities for environmental analysis, microbiology, and chemical testing. Key highlights of our equipment include the AQ400, Shimadzu TOC, TNM, SSM, Li-Cor gas analyzers, and the Nutech3000, which together enable a wide range of high-precision analyses to support academic, industrial, and governmental research projects.
Key Instrumentation & Capabilities
AQ400 Discrete Nutrient Analyzer
The AQ400 Discrete Nutrient Analyzer facilitates rapid and precise analysis of nutrients in water and wastewater, such as nitrates, phosphates, and ammonia, enhancing our capabilities in monitoring water quality and supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
Shimadzu TOC-L analyzer + TNM-L + SSM-5000A
The Shimadzu TOC-L (Total Organic Carbon) analyzer, paired with the TNM-L (Total Nitrogen Measuring Unit) and SSM-5000A (Solid Sample Module), allows for versatile analysis of organic carbon and nitrogen in both liquid and solid matrices. These instruments are pivotal for assessing organic matter content in environmental samples, supporting studies on carbon cycling and nutrient management.
Li-Cor gas analyzers
Our Li-Cor gas analyzers, including the CH4/CO2/H2O and N2O/H2O trace gas analyzers, provide high-resolution measurements of greenhouse gases. These instruments are integral to projects focusing on emissions monitoring, particularly in agriculture and waste management, and contribute to evaluating and mitigating climate impacts.
Nutech3000 Total Hydrocarbon Analyzer
The Nutech3000 Total Hydrocarbon Analyzer excels in detecting and quantifying hydrocarbons, including methane and non-methane species, in air samples. This instrument is critical for research on air quality and the environmental footprint of agricultural operations.
Together with a range of additional tools, including ICP-MS, HPLC, and biomethane analyzers, our laboratory is equipped to support diverse projects. We also maintain Biosafety Level 2 certification and an extension-ready mobile demonstration unit to bridge research and practical applications. This suite of resources ensures our laboratory remains at the forefront of innovation in environmental quality, resource management, and sustainable practices.
